STATEMENT ON THE BURUNDI GOVERNMENT BAN ON THE 27th COMMEMORATION OF THE GENOCIDAL MURDER OF 150 TUTSI STUDENTS AT LYCEE KIBIMBA ON OCTOBER 21, 1993

AC GÉNOCIDE CANADA was shocked to learn that the Government of Burundi has imposed a ban on the activities that AC GENOCIDE CIRIMOSO had scheduled for this October 21^st , 2020 at Kwibubu in the Province of Gitega to mark the 27th commemoration of the murder of 150 Tutsi students who were burnt alive at Lycee Kibimba on October 21st,1993 by followers of the then ruling FRODEBU party.

 

AC GÉNOCIDE CANADA is deeply saddened by this moral torture exerted on the victims and the survivors of the 1993 Tutsi genocide, whose rights to commemorate the murder of their loved ones have been blatantly and arbitrarily violated by the government.

 

AC GÉNOCIDE CANADA considers this ban to be part of the incumbent government’s sustained efforts to erase the memory of the genocide that today’s ruling CNDD-FDD party perpetrated against the Tutsi.

 

AC GÉNOCIDE CANADA is highly preoccupied by the clear-cut connection between the ongoing persecution and discrimination of the victims and survivors of the 1993 Tutsi genocide on one hand, and the sustained falsification of the history of Burundi by the current TRC with regard to the genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi on the other hand.

 

AC GÉNOCIDE CANADA notes particularly that the commemoration ban intervenes parallel to a campaign of exhumations of the remains of the victims of killings by the CNDD-FDD and its ideological and biological ancestors. These exhumations are always followed by false statements made by the current TRC with intention to reduce to the minimum any reference to Tutsi victims.

 

FOR ALL THOSE REASONS:

 

AC GÉNOCIDE CANADA invites the victims and survivors of the 1993 Tutsi genocide not to be discouraged by this move by a regime whose human records has continuously deteriorated ever since its undue access to power in 2005.

 

AC GÉNOCIDE CANADA urges all organizations intervening in the field of human rights in Burundi as well as all individuals who abhor the ultimate evil, to demand the United Nations to put to trial the genocide suspects that it has identified in its investigations but who are still discharging public duties in Burundi including in the highest office.

AC GÉNOCIDE CANADA a appris avec consternation que le Gouvernement du Burundi vient d’interdire les activités que l’association AC GÉNOCIDE CIRIMOSO avait prévues pour ce 21 octobre 2020 à Kwibubu en Province Gitega en vue de commémorer pour la 27e fois le massacre génocidaire de 150 élèves Tutsi du Lycée de Kibimba brûlés vif le 21 octobre 1993 par les militants du parti FRODEBU alors au pouvoir.

 

AC GÉNOCIDE CANADA est profondément émue par cette torture morale exercée contre les victimes et les survivants du génocide tutsi de 1993 dont le droit d’observer la mémoire des leurs est violé ouvertement et arbitrairement par le régime dirigé par l’organisation terroriste et génocidaire CNDD-FDD.

 

AC GÉNOCIDE CANADA considère que cette interdiction est partie intégrante des efforts soutenus que l’administration en place déploie pour effacer de la mémoire le génocide que le CNDD-FDD au pouvoir a perpétré contre les Tutsi.

 

AC GÉNOCIDE CANADA est vivement préoccpée par la connexion qui s’observe entre, d’une part, la discrimination et la persécution en cours contre les victimes et les survivants du génocide tutsi et, d’autre part, la poursuite par la CVR actuelle d’une politique de falsification de l’histoire du Burundi en ce qui concerne particulièrement le génocide perpétré contre le Tutsi.

 

AC GÉNOCIDE CANADA note que cette interdiction intervient parallèlement à une campagne d’exhumations des restes des personnes tuées par le CNDD-FDD et ses parents idéologiques et biologiques, exhumations qui sont toujours sanctionnées par des déclarations mensongères de la CVR destinées à réduire au minimum toute référence aux victimes tutsi.

 

POUR TOUTES CES RAISONS :

 

AC GÉNOCIDE CANADA exhorte les victimes et les survivants du génocide tutsi de 1993 à ne pas se laisser abattre par cet acte d’un régime dont le palmarès en matière des droits humains n’a cessé de se détériorer depuis son accession indue au pouvoir en août 2005.

 

AC GÉNOCIDE CANADA demande à tous les défenseurs des droits humains ainsi qu’aux autres organisations et individus qui détestent le crime des crimes, à poursuivre sans détour leur quête de justice et à exiger de l’ONU le jugement des génocidaires impunis qu’elle a déjà identifiés dans ses enquêtes mais qui peuplent toujours les institutions de la République du Burundi jusqu’au sommet de l’État.
